The old Ashbringer sounds from Naxx.

But I'm presuming that you are on a one man instance, that's why I asked you. That explained why Rivendare isn't there, since it's a dynamic zone (if it's truly a one man instance). He probably moved to some place else.

Oh no, it's the starting zone, there's other people come and go now and then, definitely not an instance ^^

It was true after all, some quest must have transported me to a different instance. I can talk to people in /say, but they can't see me, and in my version Rivendare is already gone, probably some time travel happened there that I missed out on <_<

That was the only possible explanation. He probably must be on his way to Stratholme.

Spent some time this morning capturing more of Highlord Alexandros Mograine's famous blade, The Ashbringer, whispering, speaking in agony....
