Started a new map, spent about an hour planning the layout of my new soon-to-be brilliant fortress. Chose a map with lots of cliffs to carve out into tall guard towers and ballista anti-siege fortification, and everything was going good. The farmers had good crops, the dogs were mating, my carpenter was making beds for everyone, my mason was furnituring the dining hall, and the miners was carving out the bedrooms on the lowest level.
Good went to better when:
OMG ADAMANTINE!! Never found it before! The rarest and most valuable metal in the game by far! AWESOME! xD
Uh-huh.... Eerie glowing pit, that sounds kinna bad :S
But let's check out this peculiar chamber....
*Gulp!*
There's cages and corpses, and bodyparts, and skulls, and BLOOD EVERYWHERE!!
Remember the glowing pit?
WTF!
A demon popped out of the pit and splattered one of the miners all over the wall. The rest of my miners threw their picks to the ground and fled up the stairs to ground level.
The demon spotted them, followed them up the stairs and:
Killing off every single one of my dwarfs until they were all dead, dead, dead.
Oh well, abandon fortress and start a new map
The motto of Dwarf Fortress is after all; 'Losing is fun!'
