Code:
 **NINE**
       x2
----------
 EIGHTEEN
----------

What are numbers **NINE** and EIGHTEEN?

The letters in each word represent a unique number (0-9), the star symbol is “wild”.

Took me about 2 hours to solve … there are 6 different solutions to the problem (I found them all), here is one of them:
Code:
45818999
      *2=
91637998

I=1, H=3, G=6, T=7, N=8, E=9

Can you find the other 5 solutions?

Only way i remember my 9 times table is that trick with your fingers

3x9 = 27 as theres 2 fingers up to the left of the third and 7 up to the right.

Aside from that one im shit

I consider a crossword a puzzle, this is just complicated maths.

Since when is multiplication "complicated maths"?
Multiplication is complicated maths when you're not dealing with <3 numbers, or pretty numbers like 10000, 20000 etc.
Ofc, is you're so awesome that you can do 45718999x2 and be sure it equals 91637998 without using a calculator, fast, grats to you ^^

I never said you can't use a calculator. But seriously, doing x2 of any number is easy, it's not even multiplication, its addition.

If **NINE** x2 = EIGHTEEN is too hard for you, try starting with an easier one:

ONE x2 = TWO

Three digit numbers, and no wild cards, 18 possible solutions. Example solution:

452*2=904
key = W=0, E=2, O=4, N=5, T=9
